Does what goes up, always come back down?

Last night we got the girls in their jammies and I went downstairs to feed Alaina while Mark put Paige to bed. We did hugs and kisses like usual. Soon after Mark came downstairs we could hear Paige crying. Mark went up to check on her and came back down saying that she wants Mommy. So I handed Alaina off and went up. She was standing in her crib crying and when I asked her what was wrong, she said, "nose". I thought she just wanted me to wipe her nose because she was crying and it was running. So I picked her up, carried her into the bathroom, and sat her on the counter. I told her to blow and she did. Immediately she sneezed and I saw something fly out. That girl had bunched up at least one sticker and stuck it up her nose! I wouldn't doubt it was 2 or more and was in the shape of a triangle.

Help!!! She is a thumb sucker and likes to rub things on her upper lip. Usually these "things" are chewed up food, like fruit snacks, or raisins, or fruit. Disgusting, I know. I really don't know what to do. Fortunately, we haven't had a real emergency with this, but one will be in our near future if she keeps this up. Any ideas out there?

Paige-isms

It never ceases to amaze me what will come out of my child's mouth. Here are a few of my favorites.
  • "Amen" - used in place of, The End, when finished reading a story
  • "CakeCake" = Pancakes
  • "Fummer" = Thunder
  • "Buggie" = Any bug, especially flies
  • "Afier" = Pacifier
  • "Sauce" - used for any fruit or veggie dip, condiments, and diaper ointment. Like when I'm changing her diaper she'll say, "I want sauce, mommy!"
  • "Bankum" = Blanket, and she loves them
  • "Wapper" = Fly Swatter
  • "Wee ha" = Yee ha
  • I love the way she thinks every color in the box is "greem".
  • I love that she pronounces L's with a w sound.
  • I love that she is so polite and almost always says please, thankyou, and sorry.

And my favorite Paige-ism (and she came up with this on her own) is that she says all bodily functions are an elephant. Like the other day I could tell that she was grunting. I asked her if she was pooping and she replied, "no mommy". I said, "Well, what's that smell?" And she replied, still grunting, "An elephant!"

Another time in the van Alaina was pooping loudly. And Paige blurts out, "Awaina elephant, mommy. Awaina elephant." I said, "Does Alaina need a daiper change?" "Yes, mommy, Awaina elephant!"

A weekend with Nana and Papa

Nana and Papa (Melanie's parents) came to visit this weekend. We had lots of fun. Paige loved going to the park with them.
Paige loves to pick the "fwowers". We don't mind as long as she doesn't blow them into our yard. She also loves to walk Aunt Amber's dog, Lucky. You can see the leash in her hand. Also take note of her "Papa's side kick" t-shirt. Papa got that for her in Florida.

Papa laid down under Paige so she could swing over him. She thought it was great!

Aunt Amber and Paige are racing Nana down the slides.

Papa giving Paige an underdog!

Papa definitely had the touch. Alaina would sleep with him for hours. It was pretty sweet!

The Fair

I thought Alaina looked so cute in this outfit that I had to take a couple pictures and share!

Paige wanted in on the action, so here she is mid somersault.

Just being goofy!

I guess she wore herself out!

I also had to share some pics of Mark racing some friends on a slip 'n slide. Here he is on the left against Greg Isaacson.

And against Trevor Bollers. I will brag him up. He did win every time!

Yesterday we went to the Johnson County Fair and met some MOPS friends. Paige was super excited to see the cows. She also saw horses, donkeys, peacocks, bunnies, and sheep. She was vey brave and pet the cows, horse, and a bunny. She thought it was hysterical that the bunny twitched its nose on her hand. She would have even gotten to sit on a cow, but the cow that belonged to people we knew was standing, so it was a no go. Maybe next time. It was a fun day.
Paige holding hands with her friends Jaclyn and Ashlyn Pitcher! Soooo Precious!

Here she is with Ashlyn and Hannah Isaacson.

Chick-Fil-A

So Mark called me the other morning and says that Chick-Fil-A is having a special where if you dress like a cow you get a free combo meal. And since Paige was a cow last Halloween and we still had her costume, I decided to go for it. But I wanted to make sure they were actually doing this before we got everything together, dressed her like a cow, and tried to order. Sure enough, on the website it said for that one day only you get a free meal if you come dressed as a cow. They also had a link to some ideas for cow costumes and I came across the "Eat mor chikin" signs. So I printed them out and thought I could pin them on her costume.

So we get to the mall. Paige, Alaina, and I, that is and we are at a bench by the carousel trying to get Paige to put on this super hot cow costume and all she wants to do is ride the carousel. In my haste I tell her she can ride it after lunch. Not really thinking that I have to ride it with her and I have Alaina, our double stroller, my purse, the diaper bag, our camara, etc. Anyway, she gets all dressed, looks so adorable, and hates it. She cried all the way to the counter. I had to carry her. We did get a free meal, but the people working seemed less than impressed. I think the mall goers liked it the most.

So we eat, after I promptly removed her from the dreaded costume and it hit me as there is no way I am going to be able to take her on the carousel by myself. I was trying to avoid it leaving the mall, but her keen eyes spotted it and she reminded me. Thinking that I am super mom, I decided that I could carry Alaina, and just park the stroller inside the gates. I could do this. So we put our dollar in the machine and Paige has her token to get on the ride. As we are just ready to get on, I picked up Alaina and she had a blowout. There was poop everywhere. So we have to leave the carousel. Paige was now crying because she now thought she wasn't going to get to ride it. Well, I got Alaina cleaned up, got in line again, stepped on the carousel, and as I was lifting Paige onto her horse, she cries, "I pooped!" And she did, boy did she stink. But we were riding that carousel if it killed me. And she did have fun. What I'll go for for free food!

1st time blogger

Well, this is my attempt at a blog. Bear with me as I try to figure all this out. I really want a way to keep family and friends updated on our lives. Paige is two years old and a real delight. She never ceases to amaze me at what she says and does. Alaina is 3 months old and has beautiful smiles when she wants to. We are still trying to figure each other out. I love being a stay at home mom and spending each day getting to know my girls better.
